Abstract

Currently, WCO members are faced with difficult challenges, but at the same time, indispensable to cope successfully with the contradictory trends resulting from the globalization of international trade. On one hand, it is needed to ensure the effective security and control of the international supply chain. On the other hand, one must meet the increasing demands in terms of customs procedures’ speed in the release of goods. Thus, the customs administration will be required a more active and effective use of information and communication technologies in order to respond to these challenges. Therefore, it will have to work with electronic data rather than paper documents and connect the various stakeholders’ computer systems such as government agencies and economic operators, in a “single window”.
