Abstract

The communication to be presented is based on an investigation for Phd degree about a proposal to a model of tourism destination strategic diagnosis in a destiny strategic tourism plan. It will be presented a draft to a model proposal to be used as a tool and orientation in the steps of a strategic diagnosis construction phases. The model to present is based in theoretical approaches, a research and benchmarking of some recent strategic tourism planning used in countries and cities, a National tool kit for a strategic planning of a tourism destination, and a case study. The strategic diagnosis plan rather is the basis in what a strategic planning supports and develops. From this path, the strategic goals to achieve are formulated. The concepts of developing, sustainability and competition are key words in the process. The proposal model aims to contribute to a better preparation and justification of the initial diagnosis in Destination Strategic Planning in Tourism, be a tool used as in the lifting of the potential of a region, to correct and improve the sustainability and competitiveness of a destination, a supporting document both for academics and researchers that study the strategic planning of tourism destinations.
