Abstract

Wine routes, while privileged instruments of organization and publicity of Enotourism, are catalytic poles for the potentialities the wine regions have within themselves, acting as a lever for the local and regional development. In this study, we approach the theme of the usage of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) as an essential instrument for the development of the 11 wine routes that exist in Portugal. Using various indicators, we will analyse the presence of the Portuguese Wine Routes on the Internet and the quality of their sites (information provided, strategic alliances, languages, etc.). The information obtained is a starting point for the implementation of strategies to make the wine routes more competitive so that they may accomplish their main function: to contribute to local and regional development.
