Abstract

Whereas most studies have concentrated on the political, economic and the human rights dimensions of those relations/policies, this article concentrates on relations between parliamentary bodies and parliamentarians. There is very little academic interest in the question. However, this particular study will not deal with the parliamentary dimension of the EMP/UfM as such. Instead it will focus on a traditional area of International Relations: conflict resolution. It will do so by assessing the role played by the Euro- Mediterranean Parliamentary Assembly (EMPA) – now renamed the UfM-Parliamentary Assembly (UfM- PA) – in conflict resolution.
