Abstract

In the current global context, the impact of social factors not directly associated with the work context has profound implications for individuals’ lives, affecting them, changing the quality of work life, their health and, therefore, the organizations.
This work aims to reflect critically on two dimensions of organizational life – moral harassment and stress in the workplace – trying to establish connections between them and discuss the need to build practices in the management of human resources that enable people to fight these problems. Thus, a brief reference to the concept of moral harassment and to recent developments in this field was carried out, aiming to analyze the theories and explanatory models of stress in order to find answers that may contribute to an improved quality of life at work, reducing people’s health problems and contributing to the sustainable development of organizations. The area of human resource management plays a remarkable role in the way social relations are organized in the context of organizations, whose practices should express the sense of social responsibility that organizations should take as elements of the social world in which they operate.
