Abstract<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this communication we will address the research project that is being developed at the CIID research group (www.ciid.ipleiria.pt) entitled Visitor Profile of World Heritage Monuments in Leiria. In this project we have as case study the monasteries of Batalha (since 1983) and Alcoba\u00e7a (since 1989), which belong to the region of Leiria\u2019s territory. In terms of framework, this study is also being developed in association with ATLAS – European Association for Tourism and Leisure Education, following the model of ATLAS Research Project on Cultural Tourism (http:\/\/www.tram-research.com\/atlas\/). The main milestones of this communication are the understanding of the importance of cultural sites as tourist destinations, the integration of cultural tourism in the context of multi-functional tourist journeys and the importance of cultural motivation and its particularities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
